Yoga, All-Around | Clarklake, MI
Sally Lyons’ connection to yoga stems from beautiful Clark Lake, Michigan where she resides with her husband BJ and their two pups, Hobie and Bernie.
Known to most as “Sal,” she will tell you that it was always her dream to live at Clark Lake. She grew up heading North to the Lake every summer as a kid with her family. With sacred memories of turtle and frog hunting, drinking water right from the spring, skiing, tubing, grilling big family dinners, playing kick the can, and enjoying fireworks over the lake each Fourth of July, the lake was easily Sal’s favorite place. It’s also where she met her best friend, the man she later married right there on the lake and turned her dream into a reality as they settled in.
Sal has enjoyed paddle boarding for 5 years. After receiving her 200 RYT certification, she jumped at the chance to combine her knowledge of yoga with her love of paddle boarding. SUPYO (Stand Up Paddle board YOga) was born taking balance and core work to a whole new level! Now coming into the summer of 2016, this will be her third SUPYO season. The magic of the water and the fun her students have continues to inspire Sal. Word of classes at Clark Lake quickly spread to surrounding lakes in the Irish Hills area where students happily gathered to honor their practice right there on the water. She also hosts classes in her home state of Ohio where classes are held on a beautiful quarry in Maumee, OH.
A true lover of animals, outdoors, nature and all things zen, paddle boarding is right up Sal’s alley. Historically popular in California, Florida and Hawaii, paddle boarding was a new adventure for many Michiganders. In her floating yoga studio, Sal coaxed many eager yogis, at all levels, out on to the water. A true instructor, Sal makes everyone feel comfortable and welcomed as paddle boarding can be a bit intimidating when you are a novice. Sal will tell you that yoga is not a competition with others nor with yourself. It is a beautiful journey and one for which we should be grateful. During class on the water, her advice is to take the time to really enjoy your surroundings, feel the water and submerse yourself in nature’s tranquility…either intentionally or sometimes accidentally!
While classes are taught only in the warmer months, a cozy, lakeside studio welcomes students throughout the winter months where Sal offers a variety of yoga classes like Hot Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. As a brave and adventurous soul, you may catch Sal, however, out on the water no matter what the temperature often accompanied by her furry companion who’s always up for the ride.
Sal makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. She is an approachable, light-hearted woman with a great sense of humor. Her ability to see the light in others immediately ignites their lights to burn even brighter. And that’s an inspiration to all.
See you at The Lake!

My husband and I have loved Isle since our first purchase. Great company and people! Our rep walked us through all the boards and encouraged us to check out the inflatable line for my Paddleboard Yoga company. Best decision ever! The boards are durable and comfortable. PERFECT for paddling, yoga and rentals. Love them!
