In this article, we'll explore various tips that are going to get you comfortable moving around on your board. This will allow you to repositions yourself and allow you to do more advance tricks.

  1. Use Your Paddle: Use your paddle by putting your paddle vertically in the center of your board and apply pressure on the paddle. This allows your to reposition your feet. This is useful if you are a little too far back or forward to reposition.
  2. Hop: When hopping you want to keep your weight centered over the center line of the board and just unweight your feet enough to hop. When you do little hops on the board it allows to to shift yourself forward or backward on the board slightly.
  3. Shuffle: When one foot is in front of the other and similar to hopping but you move one foot after the other in a shuffle. You want to keep your weight centered over the center line of the board. This allows you to shift yourself forward or backward on the board.
  4. Cross Stepping: This is surf inspired longboarding. It is a really fun skill that will actually help your surfing if you want to go longboarding. This applies all the principles we learn in the techniques listed above. Cross stepping is where you cross your feet over each other. It is a very smooth and stylish way to move around your board
